The last few months have been particularly hard for us as a family especially towards the end of the last year and beginning of this new one. My husband and I have both had debilitating issues where we have felt like Lord why us? What have we done? How much more can one person, spouse, couple and family take?
I won’t go into details about our current circumstances and really there’s no need because I know everyone is facing some struggles, hardships and balancing acts especially within the UK and the constant changes in regulations. Plus, (for us) it’s still an ongoing process of understanding the dynamics of resolving or dealing with what we are experiencing. Yet in the deepest darkest pits, we have had to cry out to God and petition him for true understanding of what we are facing. Gradually we are seeing some hope, a gleamier of light 💡 at the end of blackened tunnel…. We are starting to turn our very sore and bitter moments into some sweet tasting memories.
How did we do it? I wish I could tell you there was some quick self-help solution, book or remedy. There is a way, but it took us realising a few things….
1.The daily renewal of our minds and connecting with God and positive/encouraging people to help us stop spiralling downwards.
“Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.”
Romans 12:2 ESV
“You keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on you, because he trusts in you. Trust in the Lord forever, for the Lord God is an everlasting rock.”
Isaiah 26:3-4 ESV
2. Focus on each other and our children. There are blessings that go sometimes unnoticed because we are so consumed by what’s going wrong and not what is going well.

3. Our weakness is God’s time to show his almighty strength.
“But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore, I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me.” 2 Corinthians 12:9 ESV
4. Do not be afraid to ask for help and support.
What am I ultimately saying? It is that, life will fling a heap (actually a mountain) of sour lemons your way. However, there is great hope provided. When we daily reconnect with God, positive affirmations and people to help turn these fruits into some amazing tasting and thirst-quenching lemonade. It’s not that we’ll forget the hard times, but we will see how they have enabled us to become more stronger in our overall well-being mentally, spiritually, physically, emotionally and all the other “llys” …
